Saturday, February 4th was #WorldCancerDay and I celebrated in a pretty big way. 20 beautiful women came out to GrooveRyde for a fundraiser called Bright Beats and we boxed, cycled, and got educated for breast and ovarian cancer. The event consisted of a 30 minute boxing session, a 30 miniute Brighten UP workshop (which is Bright Pink's educational and empowering lesson about breast and ovarian cancer prevention), and we all ended it together on the bike for a 30 minute spin class.
There were some awesome giveaways (thanks Nooma, Silk Body Boutique, and Lululemon), there was plenty of sweat, and there was definitely a ton of inspiration.
I got to ride on stage, leading the pack. I was so scared to be up there at first but throughout the ride started loving it and there might even be some teaching in store for the future.
Together we raised almost $500 (still crunching final numbers) for Bright Pink but we also did something more important: we inspired each other to live proactive and healthy lifestyles ourselves and to continue spreading the word about what we learned to the women in our lives.
Thank you so much to GrooveRyde for helping me to put this on and being a constant support system in my life. You have shown me what it's like to truly "stand with an army." <3
